VIRTUAL EVENT
1 DECEMBER 2020, 8:30 - 10:30AM SGT/HKT
2 DECEMBER 2020, 10:00 - 11:30AM SGT/HKT
Bloomberg Asia is proud to present RADAR — a new dialogue series that brings together disruptive pioneers in government, business and finance to advance the progressive ideas, innovative policies and world-changing philanthropies shaping our future.
Running over two days, this year’s inaugural RADAR event will present new perspectives on our global demographic landscape, in particular the changing roles of over-60s. Far from being an economic liability, this demographic remains the world’s most valuable and capable citizens, with a spending power reaching $15 trillion this year.
Join experts, from policy-makers to entrepreneurs, as they explore how the rising life expectancies of this group are helping to create the world’s “seventh continent” — an opportunity-rich geography of new financial possibilities, more inclusive business models, and smarter, data-driven philanthropic endeavors with the power to revolutionize our societies.
Longevity is redrawing economic lines, changing the face of the workforce, and advancing technology and innovations. The future does not solely belong to Millennials or Gen Zs, but rather is fertile ground for a completely new, cross-generational industry — the capitalization of which could exceed anything previously seen in the history of markets.
Longer life spans are altering business models, living standards, pension costs and economic growth rates across the globe. According to Margaretta Colangelo, author and co-founder and CEO of Jthereum, the citizens of the over-60s "silver economy" have a spending power estimated at $15 trillion this year alone. How can traditional approaches to wealth management and pensions adapt to a future of healthier people and reskillable workforces?
As the twin demographic trends of rising Millennial and the silver economy's wealth trigger world-altering advances, governments must enact policies that recognize the potential of these changes to both advance and disrupt our societies. The wisest policy-makers will be those who build strong consultative relationships with the increasingly tech-infused private sector.
The world is growing increasingly complex and divided. Governments and the corporate sector must collaborate and find effective ways to share wisdom about the most important global challenges. With the tremendous potential of data science at our disposal, new ways are needed to increase social and environmental capital alongside financial capital and build more sustainable economies.
Data for Good forms part of a long Bloomberg tradition of advocacy, for using data science and human capital to solve problems at the core of society. Shawn will look at how Bloomberg has used data and technology to identify gaps and how to leverage data for good in society, as well as tell the story of that good and measure its success.
While many non-profit organizations are working to solve problems of universal importance, this session will present an individual and an organization who are setting particularly extraordinary benchmarks in terms of effectiveness and efficiency as they make a difference across key areas of international concern.
Rising life expectancies are creating a new "silver economy" of over-60s — an opportunity-rich geography of new financial possibilities, more inclusive business models, and smarter, data-driven philanthropic endeavors with the power to revolutionize our societies.
What are the opportunities and challenges, and what still needs to be accomplished in order to achieve lasting change for all? Who can we collaborate with within and outside our sector? How can we engage across generations to create new sources of value for society?
Since 2009, Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini has led Opera Australia in its pursuit of artistic excellence and growing audiences. We close with an exclusive performance for guests of Radar.

In Nov 2018, our reach has extended into Changi Women’s prison and will also be able to reach out to displaced civilians via home-based work. This will benefit even the visually impaired and single mothers who cannot commute to us.
